Rules, Regulations and Entry
Entry Fee $50 per team
- All team members must be at least 21 years of age to enter. 3 member maximum, per team. Competition is limited to the first 10 team applicants.
- Deadline for entry is Friday, March 20th @ 7pm. All teams must full out entry forms and pay the entry fee by this date/time. Application available upon request.
- Wikipedia defines "Chili" as a spicy stew-like dish and must contain the following essential ingredients; Chili Pepper, Tomato Sauce, and Meat or Meat Substitute.
- Ingredients must be pre-cooked prior to the commencement of the official cook-off.
- No raw meat products are allowed on premise.
- Each team must bring an electric-powered heat source such as a crock pot or hot plate. The dish can be prepared at your home and brought to proper serving temperature of 160 degrees on site.
- Food may not be served until the official time of the event.
- Each team may prepare a side dish to complement their dish.
- Contestants are responsible for suppling all their own cooking utensils, heat sources, table space, décor, etc. A power source, gloves and tasting cups will be provided; however, we recommend bringing extension cords.
- Each team must cook a minimum of 8 quarts of the dish to be submitted for judging and public consumption.
- Each Contestant will be assigned a team number by the Chief scorekeeper and will be given an official judging cup. Contestants should verify the number on the bottom of their cup is the same as their assigned team number. An assigned contestant member is responsible for delivering the teams cup, filled to the bottom of the cups rim to the judging area at the time of judging.
- Judges will vote on the following criteria;
- Taste
- Texture
- Uniqueness
- Seasoning
- Aroma
- Garnish/Accompaniment
- All Judges decisions are final!
- Prizes will be awarded for:
- People's Choice
- Judge-based Grand Prize
- Judge-based 1st Place
- Set-up time is 12:00p (Noon). Clean up will begin following the announcement of awards.
- Teams will have between noon-2pm to set up their station and bring their chili to temperature. ALL entries must be at 160 degrees by 2pm in order to be eligible to compete. Judging will commence at 2pm to ensure teams have an adequate amount of fresh, hot chili for the judges. All tables will remain until 4:30p to be eligible for the "People's Choice" Award.
- Portions of the entry fee will go to winning cook-off teams and the designated Charity.
